March 8 – Free admission to the museum for women

On International Women's Day, the Fort de Chillon Museum is opening its doors free of charge to all women, in tribute to their often overlooked role in history, resistance, and society.

8 mars

Long overlooked, women played an essential role in Switzerland during times of war.

Mobilised as nurses, civilian employees, members of the health protection services or pillars of the home front, they ensured the continuity of society in a context of general mobilisation. In modern Switzerland, this commitment continues in other forms: increased participation in political life, economic responsibilities, cultural and social engagement. From resilience in times of crisis to everyday action, women have contributed – and continue to contribute – to shaping Switzerland yesterday and today.
