Halloween 2026 near Montreux: 7 Spine-Tingling Outings You Can't Miss

Autumn has settled over the Vaud Riviera, and with it comes the craving for thrills! Between alpine legends, ghost trains, movie monsters, and Mexican creatures, the Montreux region offers a particularly varied Halloween this year. Here is our selection of the best Halloween activities to enjoy with family or friends around Lake Geneva, starting with our own edition at Fort de Chillon.

1. Halloween at Fort de Chillon: Legends and Creatures of the Vaud Alps

This autumn, the Fort de Chillon Museum plunges visitors into the mysteries of alpine folklore for a truly unique evening. Forget American monsters: here, it's our own local creatures and legends that come to life in the fortress's underground galleries. For the occasion, the Fort is partnering with Damien Leuba, a Vaud-based illustrator and author of the comic book Topio et l'Hutzêran, inspired by the ancestral myths of the canton of Vaud. Through his drawings and stories, the Hutzêran and other folkloric creatures of the Vaud Alps invade the depths of the Fort for one evening, offering a Halloween experience unlike any other in French-speaking Switzerland: immersive, rooted in local heritage, and a refreshing change from the usual witches and zombies. A perfect opportunity to (re)discover this history-steeped site in a completely new light, amid forgotten legends and a guaranteed mysterious atmosphere.

Rain or shine, wind or heatwave, Fort de Chillon guarantees your unusual outing: all activities take place indoors, deep within the fortress.

Two haunted houses let the bravest visitors experience it all up close.
