Halloween in the Rain: 5 Must-Do Activities Around Fort de Chillon

Autumn is settling in along the Swiss Riviera, and with it comes a question that families ask every year: what can you do for Halloween if it rains? The good news is that between Veytaux, Le Bouveret, Corsier-sur-Vevey and Servion, the region is full of indoor activities that deliver thrills without getting wet. Here is our selection of five family-friendly Halloween outings for 2026 around the Musée Fort de Chillon.

1. Halloween 2026 at the Musée Fort de Chillon

To set the mood, head to Veytaux, directly opposite Chillon Castle, where the Musée Fort de Chillon is offering a unique Halloween experience from October 10 to October 31, 2026. Rather than relying on witches and zombies from distant lands, the Fort draws on local Vaud folklore, bringing ancient Alpine creatures and legends to life through the work of Alfred Cérésole.

Throughout October, mysterious chests are hidden in the fortress’s underground galleries. Some contain frightening creatures, while others hold collectible cards featuring legendary beings from the region. Children are challenged to find them all. Vaud illustrator Damien Leuba, creator of the comic Topio et l’Hutzêran, brings these legends to life through his artwork in a unique collaboration between heritage and contemporary illustration. The Maison des Contes et Légendes de Dorénaz complements the programme with family storytelling afternoons, offering gentle chills for all ages.

Other highlights include a candy hunt on October 31.

With its dry atmosphere and constant year-round temperature of 19°C, the Fort is the perfect rainy-day destination. Neither cold nor damp weather can spoil the pleasure of exploring its underground galleries.

2. Halloween at Aquaparc

Just a few minutes from the Fort, Aquaparc in Le Bouveret also embraces the Halloween spirit. From October 11 to November 1, 2026, the water park celebrates a Mexican-inspired Halloween themed around Día de los Muertos. Colourful calaveras, mariachi music and vibrant decorations replace the usual skeletons and ghosts, creating a festive atmosphere.

Activities include the “Inks and Spells” creative workshop, where visitors can leave with a temporary tattoo, a large calavera treasure hunt throughout the park, a magical prize wheel full of surprises and a pumpkin competition with prizes to be won. Since Aquaparc maintains a temperature of 30°C all year round, it is the perfect place to enjoy its twelve water slides regardless of the weather outside.

3. Halloween at Chaplin’s World

Next stop: Corsier-sur-Vevey, where the museum dedicated to Charlie Chaplin celebrates Halloween each autumn with its Hollywood Monsters event. The grounds of the Manoir de Ban, the final home of the legendary actor behind the Little Tramp, are filled with skeletons, witches and sinister pumpkins. Seven animated movie sets bring the Mummy, Frankenstein’s Monster, Dracula and other iconic horror-film characters back to life.

Halloween was an important family tradition for the Chaplins, and the museum continues that legacy with an immersive experience that appeals to both children and thrill-seekers ready to wear their most frightening costumes. Dates for the 2026 edition have yet to be confirmed, but the event traditionally runs from mid-October to early November.

4. Halloween at Tropiquarium de Servion

Who needs cardboard ghosts when you can encounter real crocodiles and a pair of Komodo dragons? Every autumn, the Tropiquarium of Servion transforms its visitor trail with Halloween-themed decorations, combining wildlife discovery with a seasonal atmosphere. Impressive reptiles, penguins, giant tortoises and frilled lizards make this visit both educational and entertaining. Best of all, it is entirely indoors, making it perfect for rainy days.

A great way to extend the experience is with a combined ticket that also includes the nearby Servion Zoo, offering even more animal encounters at an attractive price.

5. Halloween at Swiss Vapeur Parc – Trains Under Cover

To round off this spooky tour, head to Le Bouveret and Swiss Vapeur Parc, where witches and ghosts take over from October 10 to October 31, 2026. Witch hunts, mazes and other “horrors” entertain visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with evening openings until 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. On October 31, the park remains open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. for a major Halloween celebration.

The good news for rainy days is that part of the miniature railway network, which reproduces Swiss railway lines at a scale of 1:87, runs under covered areas. Visitors can therefore enjoy the Halloween atmosphere even in gloomy weather.
